Schedule Change by Jessica Sjoroos and Trevor Pfaff

If you are one of those people who has been wondering what’s going on with our new schedule, we’re here to tell you. The Next Generation Plan was passed four years ago, and it states that we had to have weekly advisory. With our old schedule we weren’t accommodating it by having it week on week off with enrichment/ endorsement.
Another big reason for changes was to have a matching schedule with Thunder Mountain so that teachers could teach at both schools and students could remain at one school and still take classes at the other. So now we have a compromised schedule, Thunder Mountain really liked they’re extension periods, while we like our enrichment so now we have a day for each.
Our schedule is supposed to be Tuesday for advisory, Wednesday for Enrichment, Thursday for endorsement/ extension. In case you don’t know, extension is when people who are struggling with a certain subject has to go with all the teachers of that subject and get help.
Endorsement is was supposed to be students taking responsibility and going to their teachers and asking what they need to do for graduation endorsements. (i.e. Jocs and Docs, Honors, Humanities) They might change it to actually being an endorsement day Thursday instead of enrichment.
Next we went around and asked a few people if they think everyone uses advisory, and if they personally used it to their own advantage. Or if they like in it general.
Eli Keston, “No, the only thing I like about it is how easy it is to ditch. But some people use it for school uses I guess, every once in a while I go get caught up. Most of the time I’m just long boarding.”
Tempest Smith, “I know I use enrichment to do ceramics make ups. I’m sure a majority of people sit around in the classes and the commons doing nothing though.
Mr. Alsup , “I like it, I’ve always been around it. Every school I’ve taught at or attended has had it. I think it’s good for those students who are out for sports or other activities. Its a good time to make up missed work.”
Mr. Staley, “No not everyone’s using it, but that’s with most things. Hopefully in the future students will go and take iniative to help themselves by talking to teachers and getting help with materials that they don’t understand, even if they’ve moved on from the topic.”
Mrs.Germain, “i like it, its looser its good with the freshmen kids are working and its helping, it helps alot with sports and if your gone at all”
Mr.Hopkins, “No Comment”
Jake Bicknell, “It’s stupid, they should change it back. I normally just leave campus.”
Travis Duvernay, “It’s gayer then aids.”
Erlito Samonte, “It’s poopy, I feel rushed when classes are shorter.”
Demetrius Campos, “I hate it, I goof off.”
Randi Held, Savannah Cayce, Addie Ramonda, “We like how classes are shorter, but miss our long lunches.”
Brandi Hall, “It’s dumb.”
Taylor Vidic, “Advisory is worthless, but enrichment is nice because it gives you an extra 40 minutes in the day to get done the homework you didn’t do the night before or just take a really long lunch. Also the classes you missed for travel, it gives you an opportunity to get help from teachers over materials you missed.
